Vipassana Meditation

Yes yes, I have been running around too much all this while that I barely got time to sit down & write last month.

Well a good thing about running around is coming across a lot of new things. So now that I am bored of staying at one place, I decided to go around the city & explore the places nearby.

IMG_0217In an attempt to do so,  I ended up at the Vipassana International Acadamy, Igatpuri recently. Trust me it was one of the most peaceful place I have to in a long long time.

You aren’t allowed to visit all the sections of the center but just the visitors section. Here they have displayed the paintings depicting the stages of life of Lord Buddha. On entering the visitors section, you are asked if you are willing to watch a 17 minute video that talks about Vipassana, its effects on us & about the 10 days beginners course. Vipassana Meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin.

The 10 days course is something that seemed like ‘must experience once’ thing. This is the time when the students have to stay completely disconnected with the outside world & practice complete silence. This is the time they have got to spend on introspection and on thinking ways of self-improvement.

Here are a couple of pictures from there:

This definitely tops my list of things to do before in 2013. What tops your list for things to do in 2013?
